Magenta Rose Brown

In addition to being a Blues Clues character, a Rocky Horror picture show character, and one of the staples of your printer cartridges, the hue we know to be Magenta is also the name of Magenta Rose Brown actor, writer, and producer.

She excels in comedy, Shakespeare, and getting stuff done.

She is a senior at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television studying Acting and Writing.

Magenta has been creating, acting in, and producing stories ever since she was a little girl filming commercials for her parent’s business in her backyard. She continued this trajectory throughout high school, university, and beyond.

She is a firm believer in creating your own work and I can guarantee she has the most colorful name you will ever hear.

In her work, she is passionate about connecting to humanity in storytelling, highlighting strong female characters, and making our twisted world bearable with laughter.

As an Actress, Magenta excels in comedy, Shakespeare, and playing badass women across stage and screen.

During her time at UCLA’s School of Theater Film and Television, she has performed in both mainstage Shakespeare productions as the wicked Dionyza in Pericles, and the unhinged prophetess Cassandra in Troilus and Cressida, under the direction of a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

She recently starred in her self-written work Alex^4.

Magenta has appeared as the lead in multiple UCLA short films under the direction of graduate and undergraduate film students and short films across Los Angeles working with individuals from Chapman’s Dodge College and beyond.

Currently, she is acting in another UCLA Senior Capstone short film and preparing to graduate from UCLA!

Comedy & Creativity

In the fall of her senior year at UCLA, Magenta starred in her self-written comedy Alex^4. The story of four students on a study abroad trip in 1984 communist Russia, who get held up in airport customs after failing to get rid of illegal items in their suitcases, leading them on a struggle to return to America.

Recently, Magenta made her directing debut with another original play Old, New, Borrowed, Blue. The story of two couples about to depart on a double date, when an engagement ring is dropped on the floor that no one will admit is theirs.

Her first original work Get Educated, the story of two broke roommates who attempt to rob their uptight landlady unknowingly on the same night as her PTA meeting, has placed as a Semifinalist and Quarterfinalist in multiple screenplay competitions.

Her work as a writer on the slapstick short film Interior Disaster won her two juried awards of Best Use of Line and Best Use of Genre at the 48-Hour Film Project.

Efficient & Organized

Magenta is an efficient and organized producer.

In producing her original work Alex^4, she fund-raised from scratch and kept the production under budget and running smoothly all while organizing the designers, crew, and her fellow actors.

During her senior year at UCLA Magenta also organized and produced UCLA TFT’s first in-person senior showcase since 2019.

Leading her senior acting class, Magenta successfully streamlined the organizational side of an acting showcase. She communicated between Theater department heads and students, successfully led and mediated decision-making discussions amongst students, helped fundraise and budget thousands of dollars to make the showcase possible, and organized and led meetings, rehearsals, and group events.

She also took on producing her self-directed, self-written Old, New, Borrowed, Blue, at the same time and is currently in the process of developing a co-written feature film for production.
